Dragonfly: Clear Seeing

Dragonfly: clear seeing $65.00
Dragonfly teaches us clear seeing by looking at things from different angles. Sight is possible by transforming color and light and reflecting and refracting them, and with Dragonfly's enormous eyes that see nearly 360 degrees, it is the best teacher.

Life can be like light as well, bending, shifting and transforming depending on how one chooses to view it.  Dragonfly medicine teaches how to penetrate through the illusions and find true clear seeing.

Dragonfly detail
People with Dragonfly medicine walk in two worlds: water and air.  They use the tools of emotion and intellect more effectively than most.  Dragonfly people may find that their childhood was ruled by passion and powerful emotions, but as they mature, they gain a higher perspective and balance the emotions with intelligence.

Dragonfly from above
If Dragonfly appears it may be asking you to look carefully at your life and see through the illusions in order to make the transformation necessary.

This blue and green wool sculpture is felted over a copper wire armature. The wings are made of thin wire wrapped with recycled cellophane and reflects and refracts light beautifully just like a real dragonfly's wings. This is a very light sculpture and would do best displayed behind glass under lights to show off the glittering wings.  Invite the Dragonfly into your home to aid in clearer seeing!

Red Squirrel: Sacred Curiousity

Red Squirrel: Sacred Curiosity $200.00

The Squirrel primarily represents the power of gathering and planning ahead. Who doesn't associate a squirrel with frantically gathering seeds and nuts and hiding them away for later use?  The word "squirrel" used as a verb means to "store or hide away." The gathering power of Squirrel is a great teaching tool, but squirrel medicine can teach us other lessons as well, as this energetic creature is quite diverse in nature. There are gray squirrels, black squirrels, even flying squirrels.  Each species adding a specific quality to Squirrel medicine. This sculpture explores the energy of the Red Squirrel.

Red Squirrels are the watchdogs of the woodlands.  They perch high and call out loudly when something seems amiss, or a potential intruder comes into view.  They are more aggressive than their Gray relatives and despite their smaller size, they are good fighters.  Their courage allows them to be quite curious, often coming quite close to humans and their dwellings to explore and seek out new food sources.

Red Squirrel alternate view
Red Squirrel can teach us to be vigilant and observe what is obvious, so that we can prepare for what is to come. It might be time to begin gathering supplies or energies and seek out a safe place to keep them.  At the same time, Red Squirrel calls out for us to be curious, confident and brave.  Now is not the time to give in to fear.  It is time to explore options, move into new territories or adopt new habits and ways to live.  This new knowledge coupled with the energies or supplies gathered will ease the mind and free the spirit, because you will know that you are taken care of when things get difficult. Apply this teaching to your concerns about the future and they will not overwhelm you.

This wool sculpture is mounted on a natural bark base, and has a hook so it can be hung on a wall.  The eyes are glass.  This life-like sculpture can be used as a meditative tool to reflect on the qualities of the Red Squirrel.   It is also great for wildlife lovers and for decorating a country cottage or cabin.

The Howling Wolf

Howling Wolf   $95.00

Some of the qualities represented by Wolf are leadership, community, lunar energy and communication.

The wild wolf is an excellent communicator.  They use facial expressions, tail and ear movements, body postures, teeth bearing, eye squinting and scratching as well as a wide range of vocalizations to make a sophisticated system of communication.

Wolf as an energy symbol may indicate the importance of communication and may be urging you to hone your own communication skills to effectively relate your feelings and ideas.  It may be time to write, sing, chant, pray, dance or howl to the moon in praise of the  blessings of life.

Howling Wolf detail
This wool sculpture displays the howling Wolf, eyes closed, lifting its voice to the sky to deliver its message.  The nose is plastic and carefully glued onto the wool.  The rest of the sculpture is solid wool.  Use this sculpture to reflect on the communication gifts of the Wolf and encourage your own gifts of language.  A great tool for writers and public speakers!

The Downy Woodpecker: Sacred Drummer

Downy Woodpecker: Sacred Drummer  $300.00
Downy Woodpecker detail
Woodpecker is nature's sacred drummer.  They drum to the heartbeat of mother earth and symbolize the ability to move between dimensions.   People who share Woodpecker energy use their heads to peck through the hidden layers to uncover the deeper self.  They are opportunistic beings, seeing something valuable in what others see as worthless. When Woodpecker's drumbeat is heard, it may signal that it is time to go inward, reach down to our roots and use the intellect to gain insight into a problem.  The patch of red on the Downy Woodpecker could be thought of as a symbol for the root chakra, the sacred earth, and represents pure, primal energy.  The acrobatic nature of the Downy also symbolizes the creative ability to search out new paths to get to and understand the truth.

Downy Woodpecker detail
This wool sculpture is mounted on copper wire feet wrapped with embroidery floss.   The sculpture is affixed to a natural bark base, and has a hook which can be hung on a wall.  The eyes are glass.  This life-like, slightly larger than life sculpture can be used as a meditative tool to reflect on the qualities of the woodpecker in one's life.   Also great for wildlife lovers, for decorating a country cottage or cabin.

The Green Man

The Green Man $125

The Green Man archetype is found in many cultures throughout the world.  It is symbolized by the face or head of a man made of leaves, often with leaves sprouting out from the mouth, nose and ears of the face.  The Green Man is commonly thought to symbolize fertility or rebirth, but I believe the symbol of the Green Man is more complex than that.

Though the true purpose of the Green Man may forever remain unknown, I believe the it represents the intermediary between the chaos of creation and the order of nature.  The Green Man serves as the Guardian and moves through the forest ensuring that the creations of the Creatrix act in accord with the laws of nature. The Green Man could be found carved in wood and stone and often appeared in churches, abbeys, and cathedrals. Perhaps the Green Man served as a reminder that we are not so far removed from nature and are still subject to nature's law.

The wool sculpture has dark brown glass eyes and is mounted to a hand-stained pine wood base.  There is hook attached to the back for mounting to a wall.  Bring the Green Man in your home, to remind you that the power of nature exists everywhere, at all times.

Green Man sculpture dimensions: 5" diameter x 2" depth

The Fleet-Footed Fox

The Fleet-Footed Fox  $250

Fox represents adaptability, shrewdness, attention to detail, invisibility, fleet-footedness and quick thinking and action.  If Fox appears to you it may signal it is time to move like the wind: quick, silent and unnoticed.  It could be time to observe a situation silently, paying more attention to actions rather than words.  Your natural talents of shrewdness, attention to details and ability to think quickly will heighten at this time. Employing these skills will allow to you to know whether it is best to sit in the shadows or disappear in a flash with your quick movements.

The Fleet-Footed Fox sculpture captures Fox in action and symbolizes the quick movements and sure-footedness that allows it to appear one moment and vanish the next.   The wool sculpture has green glass eyes and is mounted with a heavy gauge wire to a hand-stained pine wood base.  The wood base is accented with wood shavings. This sculpture can be used as a way to meditate on or invite the qualities of Fox in your daily life.

Fleet Fox Sculpture Measurements: H 4.25" x W 3.25" x L 7.5"
